The gift of life [and love] ❤

Penn Medicine – Organ transplantation/donation

When it comes to love, you gamble when you need to…you’ll maybe break your heart on one unlucky throw but then again, you’ll never know.

You’ll Never Know – Ringo Star

This is a screen capture of some info. Off of the pennmedicine website for organ transplantation/donation. There are too many people in need of organs. I’m not sure if everyone knows that if we are generally healthy, we can donate a kidney to someone, even a random stranger, while we are still here, alive. And live donation is generally more successful than donation after the donor has died(especially if the donor & recipient are biologically related). You can see these facts on the Penn Med page, above.

I see so many things with people saying they want to help save others after they die and people saying they don’t like the thought of their organs being inside someone else “after death” but guess what?! We don’t have to wait to die! It seems like people are under the impression that organ donation has to wait til after death. Of course for some organs, such as the heart, we have to die first. But kidney, partial liver, bone marrow…can be donated now. Also, blood, platelets, plasma red…can be donated every once in a while.

Red Cross – blood drives (in U.S.)

Im just sharing this in case anyone wants to consider or promote live donation in any way. It’s certainly not without risks to the donor (and recipient) but in my opinion, well worth the risks to myself. I have two perfectly functioning kidneys(least I think so). Someone else doesn’t even have one. Unfortunately, organ transplantation is not always successful. There is a chance the person’s body will reject the transplanted organ. Not only is this devastating for the recipient but can also be for the live donor. To give up a crucial part of our own body to try to save/extend someone else’s life and it doesn’t work. And we can’t get that organ back either. Still, it’s worth it. We don’t know if we don’t try. My philosophy is that some things are well worth the risk of disappointment/devastation. It still won’t be for nothing.

And that person still will receive our love.

I dont believe anyone has a moral responsibility/obligation to have our own body cut into and have an organ removed! Or blood taken. It’s just a sweet, incredibly generous, act of kindness im putting out here in case it resonates with anyone in any way. Like I frequently say/write, I don’t judge those who aren’t interested in this or too scared or cant for whatever reason. Social media is a great way to bring awareness to something even if we cant or wont ever or currently participate in it our own self.

I have this dream/goal, for years now, that has to do with organ donation. I thought about it off & on for years, sometimes more seriously than others, but always sure. Recently, it has been on my mind more than ever and I am even more passionate than ever about it. It can’t be yet because I have some circumatances to change/get even better first. But in some ways, I am preparing. I hope so much that in the somewhat near future, it will be a reality.

I have given it much thought, research, and talked to people about it recently. I know it’s my calling. I am inspired and ready(just in my head for now).

One night, recently, in the dead of night I woke up with this disturbing “what if…” what if it doesnt work???

Then instantly, song lyrics popped into my head. A song sung by Ringo Starr.

When it comes to love, you gamble when you need to…you’ll maybe break your heart on one unlucky throw but then again, you’ll never know.❤❤❤

I love this song!! And sometimes, I listen to it over & over & over again. But I havent heard or thought of it much lately. So I love how it popped into my head out of nowhere. It was probably in my “unconscious mind.”

It is the most beautiful concept, really it is. Reach out in love no matter what. Then let go. Whatever happens, happens. Make the most of it and cherish whatever good there is in each day.

I want to share this message not just in relation to organ donation but anything that is our goal or something we desire. It may not work out how we intended but at least we tried! And you never know, it may just go as we hoped or even better! Even if it’s something just for us and no one else, go for it!! Taking a risk, even if it all “fails,” can inspire others to take steps to achieve some goal or dream. Keep, keep going!!! And trying & falling can strengthen us. There is no such thing as failing unless we choose to stay down.

I am so ready!! I am ready to reach out in love and then let go. Hope for the best but know it’s all worth it if the worst should occur.

My love goes out to all who are in need of any kind of transplant and their families/friends. One day, I will try to help with more than just sharing on social media. And my love goes out to all organ donors (alive & deceased) and their families/friends. Since I was a little girl, I have always had a special love for those in need of an organ, even though I don’t know them. And I always knew that I want to help. I think life is beautiful and want us all to have as much as possible. And acts of kindness are beautiful and this is a great act of kindness. There is no one not worthy of this gift, no matter what religious or political views or ethnicity or sexual orientation or gender identity, nationality, skin color, size, physical appearance, relationship status, mistakes made, financial status, homeless or not, jobless or not, education level, age….in my opinion. We are all worthy of the gift of life.

It is a beautiful gift to have excellent health and a wonderful way to “give back” or “pay it forward” or just give thanks, is to share some of that good health with others.❤❤❤

This was going to be an instagram post but I realized it’s too long so I put it here instead and added to it.

Here are some tags relating to the topic.

(I found this on the ground recently!)

Also, I thank all the doctors/nurses and others who care for everyone involved with organ donation/transplantation. I thank organ donors (living and not) and their families. Thank you, thank you!!❤

Much love & light,

“I had a dream; I had an awesome dream
People in the park playing games in the dark
And what they played was a masquerade
And from behind the walls of doubt a voice was crying out
Say you, say me
Say it for always
That’s the way it should be
Say you, say me, say it together
Naturally”

Say You, Say Me – Lionel Richie

May 11th, 2018

I had a dream last night while I slept. We were all running through a park, late at night, in the darkness, playing, all adults. It was almost like a game of hiding seek or a game of tag. It was beautiful and comforting in some way but there was a kind of loneliness & longing throughout. We were all running after each other, trying to find and catch each other and most of us were strangers to each other. There was a sense of child-like joy and we were laughing. It was hard to see in the dark and there were so many people. There was one person I really wanted to find. More than anyone else, she’s the one. I knew she was there but couldnt find her. I ran through the darkness and the crowds of people, my sense of longing increasing with every step. Stumbling through the dark, reaching for her, finally, I found her. We came face to face and she embraced me. Not in a physical hug but in warm, welcoming, loving energy and a beautiful smile. She welcomed me completely. She accepted me and was happy to see me. My whole being was overcome in awe of her beauty. I lost her again. In all the darkness and strangers and trees and paths. Again, I ran to find her. It was like running through a maze of people and trees and darkness. Every once in a while I would catch a glimpse of her but couldnt reach and every now and again, we would come face to face. She would always welcome me. It was always beautiful and always brief. Then I would lose her again. I felt her near but just couldnt reach her. But on those occasions I did, there was so much love, so much joy, so much beauty before the darkness and crowds and trees took her away again. And somehow it was enough even though it wasnt. Those brief moments we encountered and embraced were so full of love that they are enough. Even with the pain, theres so much love. Even with longing and sadness and loneliness, there can still be joy and laughter and gratitude. I woke up this morning with a greater sense of love than longing. I woke up in awe. And this song played in my head.

I love dreams & especially ones that seem to have a deep purpose. This dream was two nights ago and soon I may post about one I had last night, another very healing one.

I hope you are having a beautiful day or night wherever in the world you are!

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Some lovely quotes! Out of Shakespeare’s play!

“And though she be but little, she is fierce.” ~ Shakespeare/Helena

“Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind,
And therefore is winged Cupid painted blind.”

“The lunatic, the lover, and the poet, are of imagination all compact.”

“My soul is in the sky.”

“Lovers and madmen have such seething brains
Such shaping fantasies, that apprehend
More than cool reason ever comprehends.”
” Are you sure/That we are awake? It seems to me/That yet we sleep, we dream”

” I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine.”

” I’ll follow thee and make a heaven of hell,
To die upon the hand I love so well.”

” Love’s stories written in love’s richest books.
To fan the moonbeams from his sleeping eyes.”

” So we grew together like to a double cherry, seeming parted, but yet an union in partition, two lovely berries molded on one stem.”

” Things base and vile, holding no quantity,
Love can transpose to form and dignity.
Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind,
And therefore is winged Cupid painted blind.
Nor hath Love’s mind of any judgment taste;
Wings and no eyes figure unheedy haste.”

” And sleep, that sometime shuts up sorrow’s eye, Steal me awhile from mine own company.”

” Ill met by moonlight, proud”

” The clamorous owl, that nightly hoots and wonders
At out quaint spirits.”

” The iron tongue of Midnight hath
told twelve lovers, to bed; ’tis
almost fairy time. I fear we
shall outstep the coming morn
as much as we this night over-watch’d.”

I Can Stand Up Once Again <3

Years ago, in a therapy session, I made this inspirational project with my therapist, Hannah.   This was back when my depression wasn’t as healed yet and I was struggling many days. Hannah was a student, doing work at a mental health clinic, and when she graduated she had to leave and isn’t my therapist anymore.

But I am still inspired and touched by all that I have learned when I did therapy work with her.

She helped me a lot and sessions with her were healing & fun. She was really good at listening to me and also she provided me with great, helpful techniques, such as the above activity, cutting out inspirational pictures, words, and stuff out of magazines for an uplifting image and reminder to look at so we can be inspired whenever we see it.

Hannah would often ask me about my favorite songs, why I love them, how they help me, and what they teach me. She explained how it’s a great technique to focus on the messages & Beauty of positive songs and let them inspire & help heal me.

We used to listen to my favorite songs and meditate during sessions. And she asked me to chose a song I love, one that inspires me so we can do a fun, healing activity together during our session. I chose Mariah Carey’s “Through the Rain” which is the song that helped give me the courage and motivation I needed in 2008 to first seek professional treatment for Depression.

“When you get caught in the rain with no where to run
When you’re distraught and in pain without anyone
When you keep crying out to be saved
But nobody comes and you feel so far away
That you just can’t find your way home
You can get there alone
It’s okay, what you say is
I can make it through the rain
I can stand up once again on my own
And I know that I’m strong enough to mend
And every time I feel afraid I hold tighter to my faith
And I live one more day and I make it through the rain” ~ Mariah Carey

Hannah and me chose the line “I can stand up once again” in the song and we made this together and she let me keep it to always remind myself that no matter what happens to me, how low I sink into despair, how often I am knocked down, I can stand up once again.

“And if you keep falling down don’t you dare give in
You will arise safe and sound, so keep pressing on steadfastly
And you’ll find what you need to prevail
What you say is
I can make it through the rain
I can stand up once again on my own
And I know that I’m strong enough to mend
And every time I feel afraid I hold tighter to my faith
And I live one more day and I make it through the rain
And when the rain blows, as shadows grow close don’t be afraid
There’s nothing you can’t face
And should they tell you you’ll never pull through
Don’t hesitate, stand tall and say
I can make it through the rain
I can stand up once again on my own
And I know that I’m strong enough to mend
And every time I feel afraid I hold tighter to my faith
And I live one more day and I make it through the rain”

I haven’t seen this craft we made in a while and last year my family and me moved to a new house and a lot of stuff somehow disappeared. We don’t know what happened to it. Through the years I would think of this and wish I still had it but I thought it was long gone. Then today I was looking for an old Philosophy book in some old stuff I have packed away and the memory of this popped into my head out of nowhere and I wished more than ever that I had it. I have so much stuffe packed in my closet and a mirror broke and little pieces are all throughout my stuff. I was in pj shorts and a shirt and just reached my hand into some random junk and pulled something out and it happened to be this!!!

I couldn’t believe it! I never even knew it made it to the new house! I don’t remember packing it. But it’s here!! It’s strange that I pulled it out exactly when I remembered it wishing I had it!

Talk about sweet & strange coincidences!

It’s kind of tattered and worn out but it’s still amazing! It just needed some extra glue. It’s tattered, Worn, and broken but still standing!

I love the message of this song. It shows that no matter what happens, even if there’s no one with us currently to help us, we can still manage to stand strong.

“I can make it through the rain and stand up once again
And I live one more day
And I can make it through the rain
(Oh, yes, you can)
You’re gonna make it through the rain”

My Inspiring Dream (Self Love) <3

Last night I dreamed that I was getting married….to myself!!! Lol. Yup!! Myself! When I woke up I laughed and laughed at my ridiculousness and I laughed all the way through my shower. I dreamed that I wore a white dress and was dissatisfied with it because in my reality I have always said I would prefer a red dress or some other color maybe, as opposed to the typical white and off white wedding dresses. Those white and off white ones are so beautiful too; I just prefer something different if I were to get married. So my sister, in my dream, found me a gray dress with bright yellow ducks on it and I loved it and looked stunning in it in my dream. And my dad put around bright yellow mums in the house in honor of my wedding and I married myself! Lol!

In my dream I had difficulty finding the perfect bra. Then the perfect one had pizza fries spilled on it. And I had pizza fries last night for real! Lol

At first I thought this dream is pure ridiculousness and just funny! And I posted about it on Facebook. One of my Facebook friends commented and mentioned that it seems symbolic of self-love and how self-love is extremely important. Her comment gave me much more insight into this dream. Now I see that the dream may not be as silly as it first seemed. Actually it is still quite silly and very amusing but it’s also valid and true. Love yourself. And you’ll be happier and maintain better relationships with others.

I have been, for the last few days, preparing a blog entry that I plan to post here on Valentine’s Day. Valentine’s Day is a day many people choose to celebrate & honor love which is usually romantic love. And many girls (and men too) feel blue and feel low that day feeling alone when they aren’t in a great romantic relationship. So I plan to celebrate self-love that day and try to cheer up some people that may be hurting and feeling lonely. So I am sure now that my dream, as funny as it is, is in fact a manifestation of those things I have been thinking and writing for the last few days. I’m so grateful for the insight of my Facebook friend. I love learning people’s ideas and input. ❤

Self-love is important, no less than any other kind of love.

So cherish & love yourself! You ARE important! ❤ :-). 😀

You don’t need romantic love or the perfect lover to be happy and love yourself or celebrate V-day! <3. Buy yourself some pretty flowers or your favorite perfume or go get a full body massage or bake your favorite cake or cupcakes no matter what day it is!
